Westlake Pathways Program

Westlake Pathways Dance Program is a new Seattle based youth dance program that balances technical training, mindfulness and authentic expression. Directed by Lauren Reins, using knowledge from her professional career as a dancer, as well as 15 years of teaching experience, and curriculum from her own coaching program Motivation in Movement. She works on not only a dancer's technique but also their overall well being. This program is meant to bridge the gap between the competitive dance world, and dancing for the pure joy of movement and expression. Ultimately it will provide a Pathway for whatever you want to do with dance. Whether your child is looking to work towards performance or competitive opportunities, or just simply an opportunity to move your body weekly, this is the right program for you. Classes for kids ages 8-14 yrs old are held at Westlake Dance Center. There are two pathways to choose from. Please see below for more detailed information. Program begins again Sept 11th 2023.

Choose the Pathway that best fits your dancer’s needs and schedule. Be sure to sign up for the classes your dancer is interested in, as we will cap classes. You will be billed monthly once signed up. If you have questions don’t hesitate to email.

Company Pathway

This option is for the experienced dancer who is ready to take their dancing to the next level. This is a year long commitment, (Sept-June) The monthly rate includes 6 hours of classes per week, including 3 classes exclusive to this small group of students. Training includes jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop and ballet styles. It also includes an hour of rehearsal time each week to work on choreography. Company will have performance opportunities as well as possible competitive opportunities based on the overall level of the group. Lauren will work with the individual goals of each of these dancers to help shape them and empower them to meet those goals. Crew Pathway

This is a path that grows your technique and performance skills, and takes them to the next level. It is a great option for the dancer who is balancing more than one activity, or has limited availability. These classes will still push the dancer to be at their best and also instill a lifelong passion for dance. Crew will have at least two performance opportunities throughout the season as long as they attend classes regularly. There are 3 class options for this pathway. You must participate in 2 classes a week to be a part of performance opportunities.

Mini-Crew Pathway

This is a path for the younger dancer, ages 8-10. We are starting with one foundational class in jazz/contemporary. This class will teach them technique as well choreography. There will be an opportunity for a performance as well. Depending on age and ability they may be invited to take other crew classes.
